NEWS ALERT: U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Agrees with Center on Threats to Two Desert Species

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Today the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service published two decisions in support of the Center for Biological Diversity's petitions to protect two imperiled desert species -- the Sand Mountain Blue butterfly in the Great Basin Desert of Nevada and the Casey’s June Beetle in the Sonoran Desert’s Coachella Valley of Southern California.

The Center applauds these important decisions, which again show that the Endangered Species Act works. To prevent their extinction and start their recovery, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service should provide full Endangered Species Act and critical habitat protections for these two desert animals as soon as possible.
